Expert Women’s Health Specialists Committed to Your Well-Being
It can be frustrating to be a woman in need of medical care. There is a bias in health care research and treatment that can leave women struggling. Even studies on mice, the first live tests in medical trials, often exclude female mice because their “fluctuating hormones and reproductive systems” might “confound the study results.”
Medications that work fine for men may be less effective or more quickly absorbed by women. Implants (like knee replacements) that perform well in a male body may not fit or work as well in a female one. Women have greater resistance to and wake up twice as fast as men do when it comes to anesthesia.
All of this makes it very clear that when it comes to women's health care, you need health specialists that know about the differences and are committed to providing you the best care possible for the body you’re in.
At Women’s Health Care Center of Houston, with two locations in Houston, Texas, our team of women’s health and reproduction specialists are deeply committed to your well-being. We provide women’s health care that includes reproductive and hormonal care. Here’s what we want you to know going into 2026.
OB/GYNs vs. nurse practitioners
All of our physicians have achieved individual standing as a medical doctor (MD), with a focus on obstetrics and gynecology. They are also each a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG). This means they are board-certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). They:
- Are committed to continuous education surrounding women’s health
- Have a high level of expertise in women's reproductive health, pregnancy, and childbirth
- Stay current with research and advancements in women's medicine
Just as important to our practice are our nurse practitioners. Each of them is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), which means they have achieved a master's or doctoral degree and have advanced clinical training. Our APRNs are specifically trained for women’s care, and can:
- Conduct physical examinations, including breast and pelvic exams
- Order blood draws, laboratory tests, radiology exams and minor procedures
- Diagnose, treat, and manage many conditions and diseases that afflict women
- Write prescriptions for medications and oversee hormonal pellet treatment
- Coordinate a referral for you to see a specialist, if necessary
- Perform certain invasive procedures as required
Whether or not you’re pregnant, our APRNs are here for you. They can help with issues like painful periods, urinary issues, sexually transmitted disease (STD) testing, menopause symptoms, contraceptives, and more.
Why you need women’s health specialists on your side
Women’s health specialists can be male or female themselves. They just need to understand how female bodies are affected by hormones and reproductive systems that aren’t studied as much as male ones.
All of the men and women working at Women’s Health Care Center of Houston are committed to your well-being, meaning that we:
- Listen to your concerns
- Take your symptoms seriously
- Keep digging for answers when basic tests and diagnostics don’t give answers
- Search for alternative options when first-line treatments don't work
- Never dismiss you or your fears
