Dear Memorial Women’s Specialists’ patients,
It is with mixed emotions that I announce Memorial Women’s Specialists is closing our doors.
I am pleased to announce our practice’s patients and records will be transitioned to Women’s Health Care Center of Houston, a truly outstanding group located just one floor up from our office (with an additional office located in Katy). Starting June 16, we will transition our patients to the experienced and caring providers at Women’s Health Care Center of Houston, although I will be still available for previously-scheduled OB deliveries for patients scheduled to deliver later in June. All of your records should seamlessly transfer to Women’s Health Care Center of Houston, as we are on the same electronic medical record.
I have decided to move to north Texas to be closer to family, and Dr. Christopherson will fully retire. Our team at Memorial Women’s Specialists has prided ourselves on being there for you, and understand this news may not be easy for all our patients. However, we feel that the providers at Women’s Health Care Center of Houston are an outstanding fit and resource for our patients and their healthcare needs, and feel confident you will be in excellent hands. They are the ob/gyn providers in the area that I trust with our patients and my own family members. They have a great group of experienced physicians, nurse practitioners, and nurse midwives to meet your healthcare needs.
I will miss the patients and colleagues that I hold so dearly. I feel so grateful and honored to have cared for you and that you have entrusted us with your care. Memorial Women’s Specialists practice was founded to provide patients with individualized, compassionate, and comprehensive obstetrics and gynecology care for women of all ages©2002. We hope that has been your experience, and our team feels privileged to have cared for you. I truly wish I could say thank you and goodbye to each of you in person. However, I have carefully chosen a very skilled, experienced, and established group of physicians and their team in Houston and Katy to assume custody of your records and be available for your ob/gyn care. They have paid a small fee to acquire some of the practice’s assets, and they have agreed to absorb most of our staff so that they can continue to be a part of your healthcare team. Women’s Health Care Center of Houston has two convenient offices and accepts all the insurance plans that Memorial Women’s Specialists accepts, plus more insurance plans that we do not (including other Methodist Hospital plans). They admit patients to both Memorial Hermann Memorial City and Methodist West Houston, and have been a very respected and established practice in Houston since 1979. I encourage you to choose them for your ongoing ob/gyn care.
Effective June 18, your records will be in the custody of Women’s Health Care Center of Houston, you will be able to access your information and communicate with them through their portal, and you can call them for any appointments. For any future imaging or labs preordered by our team at Memorial Women’s Specialists, those records will route to Women’s Health Care Center of Houston. These results should automatically transfer electronically or via fax to their practice. However, to reduce the unlikely risk of misdelivered results, I ask you to please call them if you do not get your results within two weeks. Women’s Health Care Center of Houston will see you at the same time and date for any already-scheduled appointments made with Memorial Women’s Specialists (unless they call you because of a schedule/time conflict). Their office is just one floor up, Suite 2225 in the same building. If you choose to go to their Katy office or change/cancel your appointment, please contact them starting June 18.
