In Office Procedures Q&A
Which in-office procedures are available?
At both Women’s Health Care Center of Houston offices, the team offers:
Colposcopy and hysteroscopy
During this procedure, your provider uses either a colposcope to examine your cervix, vagina, and vulva, or a hysteroscope to examine your uterus. These allow them to check for signs of several diseases and to provide you with the most accurate diagnosis possible.
Laser procedures
With the latest, safest lasers available today, the team can perform a range of diagnostic tests and procedures.
Abnormal cervical tissue treatment
If your provider finds any abnormal tissue in your cervix, they can use a Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure (LEEP) or cryocautery to treat the tissue, preventing cervical cancer.
Pellet insertion
If you’re interested in using pellet-based hormone therapy to regulate your hormones through the years, your Women’s Health Care Center of Houston provider can place it for you.
Endometrial biopsy
During this procedure, your provider removes a small portion of your endometrium, the tissue that lines your uterus. This allows them to screen you for uterine cancer, diagnose abnormalities in your uterine tissue, evaluate levels of specific hormones, or get clarity around fertility issues.
Contraception placement
If you want an intrauterine device (IUD) or Nexplanon®, an in-arm type of birth control, the team at Women’s Health Care Center of Houston can place your chosen form of contraception. They also specialize in the removal of these contraceptive devices.
Uterine treatment
Whether you need endometrial ablation to treat endometriosis, uterine balloon therapy for heavy periods, or dilation and curettage (D&C) to remove tissue from your uterus, you can have your procedure performed from the comfort of your Women’s Health Care Center of Houston office of choice.
What should I expect during in-office procedures?
