Comprehensive Care for Every Stage of Women’s Health

Every stage of a woman’s life requires unique care, which is why it’s important to have a healthcare professional who understands those needs. From puberty to pregnancy and childbirth to menopause, women experience profound variation in their hormone levels over the course of their lives.

At Women’s Health Care Center of Houston, with two locations in Houston, Texas, our team of women’s health and reproduction specialists offer comprehensive care for every stage of women’s health. Here’s what we want you to know.

Stages of life

No one has exactly the same health journey through life, but most women experience significant hormonal changes during major transition stages like puberty, pregnancy and childbirth, and menopause. Your unique journey can be affected by overall health, lifestyle factors, and illness or trauma.

Puberty

Women’s healthcare starts when you’re still a girl. Early periods can be unpredictable and painful, and many young women report feeling ashamed or isolated from family and peers after menstruation begins.

Introducing girls to gynecologic care at a younger age can provide comfort, confidence, and necessary education about their bodies. If you missed out on comprehensive sex education, it’s never too late to start learning more about your own body.

Pregnancy

Some people never experience pregnancy or childbirth. Others experience them multiple times. Every pregnancy and birthing experience is different, and your health affects the health of your baby. You’ll need support to help you through any pregnancies from conception through childbirth.

Even if you don’t experience any complications during pregnancy, you need an obstetrician to monitor your health and well-being, along with that of your baby. If you can’t get pregnant, you may want treatment for infertility. If you have a high-risk pregnancy, your obstetrician can help you understand what’s going on and form a plan to reduce your risk.

Menopause

Perimenopause, menopause, and postmenopause are often lumped under one umbrella and given a pseudonym like “the change.” While menopause is commonly identified as the point in time when you reach 12 months without menstruating, the months and years on either side of that point can mean lots of changes to your body.

Symptoms like hot flashes, night sweats, insomnia, mood changes, brain fog, and more are often the butt of jokes. You need care from a team that can help you navigate the upheaval while helping you become once more informed about what your body is going through.

Your women’s healthcare provider is your partner in overall wellness. Whether you’re navigating the wonderful world of sex, planning a family, or struggling with decreased hormone production, we have solutions for you.
